Welcome to the Club!
We created Hole In One Golf Club to make your hole-in-one moment worth more than just a great story. Before you tee it up we want to make sure you understand exactly how everything works so there are no surprises when that ball drops in the cup.
These rules are straightforward and designed to keep things fair for every member. Read through them, and if you have any questions at all reach out to us at chris@holeinonegolfclub.com
The Basics — What You Need to Know
You Must Be an Active Member When It Happens
- Your membership must be fully paid and active on the day you make your hole-in-one
- Shots made before your membership start date or after your expiration date are not eligible
- There are no exceptions to this rule so make sure your membership is current before every round
It Must Be a Real Round of Golf
Your hole-in-one must happen during a legitimate, regulation round of golf. That means:
- Playing on a regulation 9 or 18 hole golf course
- Following USGA rules for the entire round
- Keeping an official scorecard throughout the round
The Hole Must Meet Minimum Yardage
Not every par-3 qualifies. To keep things fair the hole must meet these minimum distances from the tee box you are playing:
- Men: Minimum 125 yards
- Women: Minimum 100 yards
If the hole is shorter than these distances from your tee box the shot does not qualify even if everything else checks out.
Who Can Be Your Witness
Your witness is one of the most important parts of your claim so here is what you need to know:
Your Witness Must Be:
Present and watching when the ball goes in the hole
A fellow golfer, caddie, or golf course staff member
Willing to provide their name and contact information
Reachable by our team for verification if needed
Your Witness Cannot Be:
Someone who did not actually see the shot
A minor under the age of 18
Pro Tip: Tell your playing partners about your membership before your round. That way everyone knows to pay attention and can vouch for your shot when it counts!
What Formats Qualify
These Rounds Qualify:
- Standard stroke play rounds
- Match play rounds
- Member guest events
- Club tournaments with individual scoring
- Casual rounds with official scorecards
- Rounds at any public or private regulation course in the United States
These Rounds Do Not Qualify:
- Practice rounds or warm-up holes
- Driving range or practice facility shots
- Scramble or best-ball formats where individual scores are not tracked
- Miniature golf or par-3 courses under minimum yardage
- Rounds played outside the United States without prior written approval
- Any format where USGA rules are not being followed
Equipment Rules
Your equipment must meet basic standards:
Use a regulation golf club (any conforming iron, hybrid, or wood)
Use a regulation golf ball
No novelty clubs or non-conforming equipment
No holes made during a trick shot or exhibition
If you are unsure whether your equipment is conforming you can check the USGA conforming equipment list at usga.org.
